Grade 2-4A figure. Various grain orientation. Roasted figured maple test blank, planed and cut to 1" - 1.2” x 3.5" x 27”. Will include defects such as; worm, knots, flares, shake lines, etc.

The use of maple provides a high stiffness to weight ratio, which makes an exceptional material for use in creating a neck that can withstand a considerable range of string tensions.
Since most lumber has a natural tendency to undergo dimensional changes in different environments, the process of torrefaction (also known as thermal modification or roasting) significantly reduces its sensitivity to different temperatures and humidity levels. By roasting a neck blank, one can expect to have long-term dimensional stability when compared to other conventional methods.

These neck blanks are amazing, all I was expecting was a couple pieces of flawed test pieces. I wanted them to test gluing and machining on my CNC.
What I received was two amazing looking and sounding pieces of really nice maple.
The difference in torrified and regular hard maple is night and day, the roasted maple rings like a bell and is super light and stable.
If you are looking for a killer figured Maple neck that won’t move every time the weather changes this is the place to get them.
